CSG Midwest Annual Meeting
Regina had the privilege of hosting the 60th Annual Conference of the Midwest Council of State Governments from July 31st to August 3rd, see Conference Agenda. This was a very important event that received disappointing coverage from the local media. National columnists seemed more aware than their local counterparts, see Allan Fotheringham Editorial.
During my years as a MLA, I was a strong advocate of our Legislative Assembly becoming an affiliate of the CSG Midwest. In 2001 former MLA (and former Speaker) Ron Osika and I made the official presentation at the 56th Annual Conference (Lincoln, Nebraska) for our Legislative Assembly to host this event. BID Regina, an initiative of Tourism Regina provided invaluable assistance in our presentation material.
I would like to thank the Commonweatlh Parliamentary Association (Saskatchewan Branch) for a partial subsidy to attend this conference that was extended to all former MLAs. Thanks also to Speaker Myron Kowalsky for publicly recognizing my contribution to this event at the Official Banquet on August 2nd, you are a class act Mr. Speaker!
